Description TECHNICAL FIELD [0001] The present invention relates to the field of watchmaking. It concerns, more particularly, a display system comprising an index movable in rotation on an axis, capable of occupying an active state in which said index is intended to be driven by a time base to provide temporal information, and a second state.
STATE OF THE ART [0002] Systems are known which propose to have an index which makes it possible to display the time on demand. For example, the index participates in an aesthetic representation when it is at rest, and indicates the time when the user operates the system.
[0003] Systems are also known in which the index can switch between two displays, corresponding to different information indications.
The present invention aims to provide a new display system, playful, in which the index, when in its second state, behaves differently from the systems of the prior art.
DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION [0005] More specifically, the invention relates to a display system as proposed in the claims. The invention also relates to a timepiece comprising several display systems according to the invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS Further details of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawing in which FIGS. 1 to 3 show an exemplary embodiment of the invention, in different positions that the system can occupy.
The present invention provides a display system for taking place in a watch, and comprising an index, not shown in the drawing, movable in rotation on an axis 10. Typically, this index may be a needle, but it may also be an index mounted on a mobile disk. The display system is likely to occupy an active state in which the index is intended to be driven by a time base to provide time information. The system is also likely to occupy a free state in which the index is idle on its axis. It is then free to rotate, according to the movements of the wearer of the watch.
To promote the rotation of the index, we can add an unbalance, so that its center of gravity is not located on its axis of rotation. This imbalance can also be arranged on a mobile of the kinematic chain which drives the index. Similarly, to promote the free rotation of the index when the system is in its free state, we can mount the index on a ball bearing 12 or mount a mobile chain drive that drives on such a bearing to balls 12.
The display system further comprises a clutch mechanism 14 arranged to be engaged when the display system is in its active state and disengaged when the display system is in its free state. This clutch mechanism 14 comprises an input 14a in permanent kinematic connection with the time base, for example with the timer 17 of a clockwork movement.
The clutch mechanism also comprises an output 14b connected to the index and capable of being driven by the input wheel 14a when the clutch mechanism is engaged or free when the clutch mechanism is disengaged.
The clutch mechanism used in the invention is particular in that it comprises an indexing between the input and the output. This indexing is arranged so that the clutch mechanism is engaged only in a relative position of the input and the output, said indexed position, in which the index is in a position corresponding to the indication of temporal information.
In other words, the output 14b of the clutch mechanism is free with reference to the input 14a when the clutch is in the disengaged position. When the clutch is engaged, the output 14b is driven by the input 14a only when the indexed position has been engaged. The position of the input wheel 14a being defined by the time base, the indexed position of the output 14b corresponds to the position that the index must occupy to provide the corresponding information of the time base.
In the embodiment shown in the figures, the proposed clutch mechanism is a vertical clutch. The input 14a is a pinion, vertically movable under the action of a lever 16, connected to a control member whose functions will be described below. The output 14b includes a second gear, coaxial with the first, and mounted on the ball bearing 12, to promote rotations of the index when the display system is in its free state, as indicated above.
For the indexing of the input 14a and the output 14b, there is provided a coupling structure between the output and the input, with a single relative position between the input 14a and the output 14b allowing the coupling of said coupling structure. The coupling structure comprises a male member 18 and a female member 20 correspondingly dimensioned, one being associated with the input 14a and the other with the output 14b, facing each other to enable the engagement of the male member 18 in the female member 20.
In order to position the output 14b in said indexed position, that is to say to allow a coupling indexing, the display system according to the invention further comprises a synchronization system 22 connectable to the output 14b to train it with reference to the input. The synchronization system 22 comprises a power source, not shown, for driving the output.
The display system further comprises a control member for switching the display system between its active state and its free state and vice versa, acting simultaneously on the synchronization system 22 and on the clutch mechanism 14. Advantageously, the control member is arranged to simultaneously raise the energy source by switching the display system to its free state.
According to the illustrations, the synchronization system 22 comprises an oscillating pinion, capable of kinematically connecting the output 14b and the power source.
The synchronization system 22 comprises a clutch torque limiting, typically friction, arranged to disengage when the output 14b is in its indexed position and coupled to the input 14a, while the energy source is not empty. Thus, the power source can disarm without causing the output 14b.
In a variant, one could also imagine that the synchronization system 22 is connected to a stop mechanism of the energy source, arranged to stop the power source when the output is in the indexed position and coupled .
In operation, when the output 14b is engaged with the input 14a with the coupling structure which is coupled, the output 14b is integral in rotation of the input 14a and the index is driven by the time base to transmit a time indication (Fig. 1). When the output 14b is disengaged from the input 14a, the output and the index are free to rotate and the index is idle on its axis (Figure 2). In the engaged position and in the disengaged position, the synchronization system 22 is free with reference to the output 14b so as not to disturb the rotations of the index.
During clutching, the inlet 14a is pressed against the outlet 14b in order to couple the coupling structure. Out, this is only possible in the indexed position. As long as this position is not reached, the output 14b remains free. The index is again in kinematic connection with the time base only when it is in the position defined by the position of the coupling structure of the input, which is itself defined by the time base . In other words, the clutch engages when the index is in a position that corresponds to that it would occupy to indicate its temporal information, if it was in permanent connection with the time base.
The synchronization system 22 intervenes to ensure an effective clutch and is not only subjected to free rotations of the output. During the clutch, the control member also acts on the synchronization system 22 to bring, according to the example, the oscillating pinion in engagement with the output 14b and release the energy source. This rotates the oscillating pinion and the output 14b until it reaches the indexed position. The coupling of the outlet and the inlet realizes the actual clutch and the rotational connection of the inlet 14a and the outlet 14b. If the energy source is not empty during the coupling, the torque-limiting clutch kinematically disconnects the energy source of the index, so as not to disturb the operation of the basic movement, or the display.
Advantageously, it is possible to connect the input 14a of the clutch to an hour wheel or a minute wheel, to indicate, respectively, the hour or the minute of the current time, when the system is in its state. active.
A timepiece can be made comprising several display systems such as that described above, one for example for the display of the time and the other for the display of minutes. The indexes can be coaxial, the person skilled in the art can freely arrange the other elements of the system. The controller is preferably common to the different systems, in order to simultaneously release or activate the display systems. The power source of the synchronization systems may be common as well.
In a further variant, not illustrated, the dial of the timepiece is also movably mounted on an axis disposed at its center. The axis of the dial may be coaxial with the axis or axes of the index or indexes of the display system or systems. The dial is capable of occupying: a locked state in which it occupies a predefined indexed angular position, preferably a usual reading position, and a free state in which said dial is idle on its axis.
In addition, an additional clutch mechanism is arranged to be engaged when the dial is in its locked state and disengaged when the dial is in its free state. Different systems can be provided to perform this function, but one can take over a system as described above, with:

Claims (12)
[1]
- an input providing a fixed reference, - an output connected to the dial and capable of being connected to the input wheel when the additional clutch mechanism is engaged or free when the additional clutch mechanism is disengaged indexing between the inlet and the outlet, said indexing being arranged in such a way that the clutch mechanism is engaged only in a relative position of the inlet and the outlet, called the indexed position, in which the dial is in a position corresponding to a normal position of the dial. A control member is also provided to switch the dial between its active state and its free state and vice versa, by acting on the clutch mechanism. This control member may be common with that of the display system or systems, in order to act simultaneously on all switchable systems. Thus is proposed a display system, respectively a timepiece, which can either indicate a time information, the hours and minutes of the current time for example, or have indexes, and possibly a dial, completely free in rotation on their respective axis, giving a sort of idea of "free time". Those skilled in the art can adapt this description without departing from the scope of the invention defined by the claims. For example, for synchronization, the energy to rotate the output, could be brought directly by the user when actuating the control member, without interposition of a source of energy to arm. Alternatively, it could be armed either with the clutch or the clutch. One could also have a separate armature of the clutch control, or even use a PTO on the base movement. claims
